A Facebook friend of mine just buried her husband. He had a throat infection starting last June. Was in a smaller hospital in NC. Docs put him on palliative care even though his vitals were good and he was quite cognizant. His wife fought valiantly for him. Was sent home with TPN orders which were canceled. He couldn’t swallow well but did not want to die. Back into the hospital, docs and nurses would continually lower his food intake. They finally sent him home and his wife got some liquids and soft food in him but it was too late. I feel sure she will file a wrongful death suit. She did everything humanly possible.

When the medical ethicist is paid by the hospital, don’t you think there’s some bias to their viewpoint on issues?
