This author has a very mistaken idea of the nature of perception. Imagination as the integrator of sensations into precepts is an arbitrary assertion with no supporting evidence.

In contrast, look up the work of

James J. Gibson, the brilliant, original, experimental psychologist who did seminal research on perception while at Cornell in the 20th century. He described - direct perception & information detection - as an original and new theory of perception.
