At Substack, we believe that writing can be both a form of expression and a way to make income on your own terms. Our programs provide support so that writers can carve out time to dedicate to their publications.

Intensives are sprints for driven writers.

These immersive, short-form programs recur each quarter, and bring writers close to Substack’s product and insights to help evolve their publications around a specific theme or genre.

Fellowships power long-term independence.

Through fellowships, Substack provides writers with substantial support over an extended period, allowing them to dedicate their attention to launching a media business on Substack.

Writing with benefits.

Substack’s Fellows receive grants, services, strategic coaching, mentorship, and exposure. We welcome applications from writers who are ready to turn their writing practice into a career.

Food Intensive

In Spring 2022, our Food Intensive will accelerate emerging food & drink writers. We will select 10 fellows to deepen their focus on their publications and to co-create a guide for writing about food on Substack. Applications are now closed.

Summer Intensive
