Before we start another week of Musk and Trump’s madness, I’m happy to deliver another round of positive news today. I hope it gives you at least some relief—and shows you there are great people fighting this tyranny.
Trump’s planned Oval Office ambush of Zelensky continues to backfire, as thousands rallied in support of Ukraine in Times Square on Saturday. There were similar demonstrations held in Los Angeles, Boston, and other cities across the country.
JD Vance went on a ski trip to Vermont this weekend, where hundreds of people lined the streets with pro-Ukraine and anti-Trump/Musk/Vance signs. Protesters gathered at the resort where Vance was staying—before he moved to an undisclosed location.
Ukrainian President Zelensky, on the other hand, was welcomed in the UK with open arms on Saturday. British Prime Minister Keir Starmer greeted Zelensky with a big hug and a massive defense loan worth billions.
A group named The Resistance Rangers, consisting of more than 650 National Parks Service Workers, called for protests at all 433 national parks this weekend.
At Yosemite, signs were put up in front of the park’s webcams, including one that read, “Stand up 4 public land + the people who protect it.” John Hockaday, who organized an event at the Grand Canyon, said: "It takes park rangers to make parks run, and we work for the people, not the billionaires."
In Alaska, protests called “pack the offices” have occurred almost every week since late-January. The idea is to peacefully gather at Congressional offices, and fill out complaints on comment sheets all at once. It's already getting local news coverage, and I’m hoping this sort of effort spreads everywhere.
On Friday in Idaho, protesters gathered outside of the Kootenai County Sheriff’s Office to demand Sheriff Bob Norris resign—for having Dr. Teresa Borrenpohl forcibly removed from a town hall. “I was absolutely appalled,” Joshua Arvizu, who organized the demonstration, said. Arvizu also said if Norris “has any respect for the oath of office, he will resign and take the shame off the badge of sheriff.” I couldn’t agree more.
Yesterday, GOP Sen. Roger Marshall held a town hall in rural Kansas, where he was met with loud boos and a rightfully irate crowd. When confronted about his support of Musk, and DOGE’s firing of Veterans, Marshall abruptly ended the event. As he stormed out, someone from the crowd yelled “coward!”
Sen. Ron Wyden announced that he will be hosting an “open-to-all town hall” on Tuesday, instead of attending Trump’s rant in front of a joint session of Congress. Wyden said: “If you’re looking for something to do … besides watching Trump lie for two hours, all are welcome to tune in.”
In a major loss for Musk and Trump, a federal judge ruled that the firing of top watchdog Hampton Dellinger was unlawful—and that he must remain in his job. The judge wrote: “The Special Counsel is supposed to withstand the winds of political change and help ensure that no government servant...faces reprisals for calling out wrongdoing.” Dellinger later said: “My efforts to protect federal employees...from unlawful treatment will continue.”
Lastly, since owner Jeff Bezos made a rightwing shift to the opinion page at The Washington Post, more than 75,000 digital subscriptions have been cancelled. Good.
Corporate media like WaPo won’t cover these stories the way we do. Because we are completely independent, democracy-loving journalists—who will never back down to Trump.
On top of reporting the news, we have a responsibility to fight back every single day. That’s why we formed our activism arm—The Watchdog Coalition—which runs our massive contact Congress campaigns. Since November, we’ve sent more than 188,000 letters, and made countless calls to the House and Senate.
It’s also how we run our online organizing efforts—like our new “Don’t Touch Our Medicaid” campaign, which has already garnered close to a billion impressions.
We’re starting to build some real momentum, but we need all hands on deck.
All of our funding comes from our paid subscribers on Substack. We have no outside investors, and we remain ad-free. So if you haven’t yet, and you’re able, please join us as a paid subscriber today:
No matter how you subscribe, thank you so much for everything you do.
Onward!

I believe that the US must absolutely, without a doubt, fully back Ukraine and Zelensky—in every way possible. Do you agree?

The Musk-mess was bad before, but J.D. Vance’s ego-show off scene in the Oval Office was the most disgusting I have ever seen at the White House! Even Putin must have been shocked. Childish!
