Young closing in on 3,000 career points
WBB: Only 16 Division I players have ever reached that milestone

In a season, and career, filled with milestones, Murray State’s Katelyn Young is moving closer to some of the most rarified air in the history of women’s college basketball.
As the Racers prepare to play at Evansville on Thursday night, Young is just 112 points shy of reaching 3,000 points for her career. Only 16 women in NCAA Division I history have reached that mark. With 2,888 points so far, Young currently sits 23rd on the Division I all-time scoring list. Checking off that next big number is something that’s important to Murray State Head Coach Rechelle Turner.
“She needs 50 on Thursday, and 50 on Saturday, and then 50 more (next week),” Turner joked. “I'm keeping up with it. I'm very aware of it. She does not care, and if I left her in to get it, she'd probably be mad at me, like, ‘Why are you not taking me out?’ We just need her to play well for us to continue to rise, for us to continue to be able to move forward, not only this week, but in the (Missouri Valley) Tournament.”
Here is the NCAA Division I all-time scoring list Young will continue to climb as this season progresses:
