Musk and Trump’s chaos is an around-the-clock disaster, so I’m happy to deliver more good news for you today. I hope it gives you some relief—and shows you there are a lot of great people standing with us in this fight against tyranny.
Yesterday, a 40-day boycott of Target was launched, following their disastrous decision to end all diversity policies and programs. Rev. Jamal Bryant, the pastor who started the boycott, said: “We’re asking people to divest from Target because they have turned their back on our community.”
Tomorrow, there are Stand Up For Science rallies planned in at least 31 cities across America—to fight back against Trump’s sweeping cuts to scientific research. They are also asking folks to “walk out of your lab, classroom, or office at 12:00 noon.”
On Saturday, there are hundreds of rallies and events scheduled all across the world to celebrate International Women’s Day. Amnesty International’s Secretary General, Dr. Agnès Callamard, said: “Despite suffering setbacks and facing countless attempts to block, divide and undermine us throughout history, feminist, LGBTQI+ and grassroots movements keep marching forward. We may be walking a rocky path, but we will never stop fighting.”
Award-winning actor Lin-Manuel Miranda announced the cancellation of beloved musical Hamilton at the Kennedy Center next year—due to Trump’s takeover of the arts hub. “The Kennedy Center was not created in this spirit, and we’re not going to be a part of it while it is the Trump Kennedy Center,” Miranda said.
In the courts, a judge barred the Trump Administration from slashing National Institutes of Health (NIH) research funding. The judge stated, “it is likely Plaintiffs will succeed on the merits, rendering the [NIH] notice unlawful.” Massachusetts AG Andrea Joy Campbell called it “a major win for research institutions across the country.”
In a new filing, lawyers challenging DOGE’s authority cited Trump’s joint session statement that Musk is in charge of the entity. This directly contradicts previous White House claims that “Mr. Musk is not the U.S. DOGE Service Administrator,” and will likely bolster the case for federal workers.
The National Endowment for Democracy, a renowned bipartisan nonprofit, filed a lawsuit against the Trump Administration for withholding $239 million from the organization. The group is currently managing around 1,000 projects in 100 countries around the world, aimed at promoting democracy.
The group’s Chairman, Fmr. GOP Rep. Peter Roskam, said: “We’d be delighted to learn that this was just an oversight and someone just forgot to hit the send button. But clearly that’s not what’s going on.”
In the House, Dem Leader Hakeem Jeffries called out the GOP for cancelling public forums and abandoning their constituents: “House Republicans have just been ordered to stop holding Town Hall meetings. They can run from their extreme agenda. We will never let them hide.”
Lastly, on Tuesday night, Pete Buttigieg made an appearance on Stephen Colbert’s show. When asked about Trump’s ongoing madness, Pete said: “We have to stand up to this. And by the ‘we,’ I don't just mean Democrats. Freedom-loving conservatives, Libertarians—where are you?”
When sharing his thoughts on where the “soul” of America is headed, Pete said: “Our nation has always been at its best when it widens the circle of belonging and equality to take care of more people and not less. Our nation has been at its worst when we've been discriminating.”
Buttigieg ended the interview by reminding folks what Sen. Slotkin said in her response to Trump’s joint session rant: “You’ve gotta be engaged. You’ve gotta hold elected officials accountable, like what’s going on at these town halls. And you gotta organize.”
That’s exactly what we do, and it’s why we formed The Watchdog Coalition—to help organize the opposition against Trump. Every day, we’re taking on DOGE, fighting to protect Social Security, Medicare, and Medicaid—and have 7 other campaigns running right now. We already have tens of thousands of members, who have sent more than 198,000 letters and made countless calls to Congress.
Our social media network is one of the largest in politics, and we use it to run actions like our “Don’t Touch Our Medicaid” campaign—which has garnered more than a billion impressions in just two weeks.
We do all of this on top of delivering good news to you every single day. Never sanewashed, and always cutting through corporate media’s lies, to give you the truth.
We’re building serious momentum, but we need all hands on deck. 100% of our funding comes from our paid subscribers on Substack. We have zero outside investors, and no advertisers controlling what we cover.
So if you haven’t yet, and you’re able, please join us as a paid subscriber today:
No matter how you subscribe, thank you for all of your support. I truly appreciate you.
