Firefighter Training Day - Photo Gallery

The Westerville Fire Department spent Wednesday training to rescue an injured firefighter using the Rapid Intervention Team (RIT) protocol and techniques.
Using specialized equipment, teams of firefighters entered a simulated smoke-filled environment to locate, treat, and evacuate a firefighter acting as an injured victim.
The equipment ranged from using ropes for marking an exit path to electronic sensors to locate the injured firefighter’s air pack.
Every firefighter and medic on duty Wednesday went through the training at the former Rouch Honda used car lot on 3C Highway in Blendon Township.
