Woohoo! Love love LOVED this post! I do, in some instances, enjoy a good enemies to lovers trope even if it is cheesy because, well, sometimes I enjoy reading scenarios in fiction that I would flee like the plague in real life. HOWEVER. (however). Abuse, insults, belittling being seen as flirty “becAuSe hE acTuaLlY LIKES hEr" by mainstream authors (I don’t have the heart to criticize the little writers who write stuff like this because it’s really hard to get your work out there, and much of it is influenced by the mainstreamed books) is just. No. Please no. I especially hate when the MMC is violent toward the FMC and it’s portrayed as sexy because she secretly likes it. That’s a trauma response, actually, and I don’t like the thought of young girls absorbing the idea that if a man makes them feel threatened but they’re physically attracted to them, it’s love. You put your thoughts together so articulately and I appreciate you speaking up about a topic you’ve clearly put a lot of thought into! You had tons of amazing points!
