Well, decades of stranger-danger panics have already emptied our playgrounds and parks, and lead to schools having to reconfigure their entrances to accommodate massive numbers of moms who don't trust the school bus and pick up the kids every day. It's now to the point where people can get arrested for letting their kids play in the park without parental supervision (as was the norm when I was a kid). Even worse, I've heard people who think even letting children play in the backyard without a parent in the backyard every single minute is criminal negligence. Meanwhile, for pretty much all of the 20th century & to this point in the 21st C, the numbers of abducted American kids has remained steady - 30-50 per year.
And people wonder why today's teens and young adults have unprecedented levels of depression. Kids need to be in the company of other kids.
