The young girls I see adopting trans identities do not look to me like they want to be men so much as they don't want to be adults. They dress like boyband members and bind or remove their breasts. Female puberty entails growing new, highly visible organs, breasts, and getting new forms of attention. I remember a girl I knew as a teen who was extremely uncomfortable with the idea of her maturation, who would be the kind of girl easily conditioned into believing in her "true" male identity. I think the girls are being groomed at a particularly vulnerable point during puberty.

As for boys identifying as girls, I notice that a lot of them (as well as preteen girls identifying as boys) seem to being heavily groomed by their parents. Nine year olds can't afford the elaborate wigs, makeup and costumes the boys wear, and their parents, especially mothers, seem to be highly focused on making those boys into girls.
