Maybe things have changed (I doubt it), but Google Maps does not use AI to solve for shortest route (this is a well-known problem with tailored algorithms that would perform quite poorly with AI). What general AI would be good for in this case is a Siri/Alexa-type interface that knows to use Google Maps to help find a shortest route for you.
