China v Australia It is a well thought out CCP strategy however it is likely to create an adverse outcome for the CCP Farming/mining while very important for the balance of trade for Australia has a practical disconnect with the wider Australian economy with very few people employed in them.

Tourism/education has a closer connection, but while there is no Covid vaccine these sectors are shot anyway.

Culturally Robin Williams description of us as “British rednecks” would be close to the mark (Robin famously retracted that comment for fear of out boarder control going “down under” next time he visited us). The national reaction to these CCP action has been a universal “up yours”.

Politically the CCP’s actions have just reinforced the Australian communities belief that the CCP is a threat to our way of life and an untrustworthy economic partner. Remember we have compulsory voting, the lower middle class determines who wins elections, see Robin Williams assessment of us above. In the medium to long term Australia will adjust, we will have lower economic growth and have lower immigration but will not comply with CCP threats.

The CCP will be left with an example of its impotence. That it couldn’t even get a tiny country like Australia to comply with its wishes.
