It's hard to own stock and pretend to be ethical. It's impossible with an index fund. The inconvenience of that, the pinching of ego, is totally irrelevant. There are maybe not good ways forward at the moment, but we need to deal with the bad or we're going to slip-and-slid into something we can't come back from.
