There is, of course, no "cure" for human nature, but I do not accept that the State is the result of some inevitable evolutionary historical process, but rather, as Rothbard so eloquently noted, nothing more than a "gang of thieves writ large", that has established itself in a given territory.

The rise of the modern State has brought destruction and mass murder on a scale unprecedented in human history. Just in the last century or so, it has slaughtered some 250 million people, and impoverished, displaced and oppressed countless more.

It is the enemy of civilization, not the result of it.

It is long past time for a new paradigm.
