I’m wondering about your underlying motivations for your comments over the past few months. You keep arguing for a very hard line approach to one system you favor and know.

Others that you criticize probably believe in a more multi-polar world that accepts and works with systems that are different, striving for making the world a better place for all parties.

The Chinese system has shown incredible governance metrics over the past decades and hence got massive support internally. That counts for a lot and I read Merkel sees it from that lens in contrast to other injustice regimes she has experienced. Also, the approach to tackle other injustice regimes much smaller in scale (aka Syria/Libya) has dramatically failed, and Europe (less so the US) pays a high price for it.

I’d much rather favor the West focusing on what really matters (eg focus on true universal Human Rights abuses covered by international treaties over ‘electoral democracy for everyone’), towards a win/win over a zero-sum game. Humanity has such massive problems nowadays around climate change, resources, over-population, I don’t think we should spend the crunch time over ideology like as if this is the cold war period.
