But there weren't any outright lies to confront - it was all innuendo, smearing, inference, guilt by association and fake news. I was a member of the party for 50 odd years, and even I didn't realise the depth of hatred in the party for socialism - I was amazed that the right wing were prepared deliberately to work against the chance to become the government with Corbyn as leader because of it, and likewise never thought they would stoop to weaponising anti-semitism against him of all people, because it was so unlikely to work. But unsurprised that our news media loved it - and it was probably the media that made it work.
