Xi’s concerns may have some basis, as CATL's rapid expansion into overseas markets has already alerted many industry insiders and experts. On Monday (March 6), the founder of CATL, Zeng Yuqun, reported to Xi at a political advisory conference that the company's global market share of power batteries has reached 37%, making it the global leader for six consecutive years. Xi responded by saying that in emerging industries, China must understand the market and risks, and prevent "one-way victories, deep lone advances, and being left with no way out and total defeat". Xi also added, "In a zero-sum game by others, we must also leave ourselves a way out." What to make of the comments? China preparing itself for the zero sum game?
