True, but the UK has had to fire up an old coal plant to get through the current European energy crunch (made worse by lack of gas storage in Britain). But the UK will eliminate coal ever by 2024 nevertheless. So one can read too much into short term signals. Obviously China is entirely different. But it is now clear that India's coal emissions will be lower in 2030 than today, and that puts a lot of political pressure on Beijing to get a move on.
