Probably not a ver popular opinion, but I think the recent sweeping measures around semiconductors are not a smart move in the long term.
It's pretty certain to hurt China significantly in the next few years, but even without talking about possible countermeasures (rare earths for example) -
It is likely to lead China to double down even further on their local industry, and grave necessity can be a very powerful innovation driver.
Imagine dor example if the next big leap in Quantum computing coming from China, and not here...
