Lady Gaga leads a star-studded list of nominees to Biden’s arts advisory committee

Lady Gaga leads a star-studded list of names Joe Biden intends to President’s Committee on the Arts and the Humanities.

Allow me to explain: Gaga has been tapped as co-chair of the 40-year-old committee and is joined by fellow artist Jon Baptiste, actors George Clooney, Jennifer Garner and Kerry Washington and producer Shonda Rhimes.

Overall, 24 individuals were appointed to the committee.

What they’ll do: The PCAH advises the president on cultural policy and other efforts to enhance federal support for the arts, humanities, and museum and library services.

At a time when cuts to resources for the arts and humanities are being proposed or passed in local, state and federal governments, they’ll also promote excellence in these areas.

What they’re saying: “We’re a nation — a great nation in large part because of the power of the arts and humanities that’s stamped into the DNA of America,” President Biden said during the presentation of the 2021 National Humanities Medals and National Medals of Arts at the White House last month.
