Funny, I just did this exact very same thing to our local republican canvasser. I’m not wanting to vote for either side, and while I’m not being pushed to vote left I am considering voting independent for the time ever - and I made that very clear to him. I told him that their intro methods to bashing the other side rather than actually listening to us was becoming tiresome and despicable and if they can’t win on addressing actual concerns of citizens alone then maybe they shouldn’t win.

I also finally answered a “political call” for the first time in years (was from republican committee,) and after she gave her spiel and then asked for my financial support, I asked her if she read it verbatim from a script or was she speaking her own mind. She paused then said “I’m sorry I didn’t get that. Could you repeat?” That’s when I realized it was a recording. There wasn’t even a warm blooded human being on the other end to care about hearing the issues we face. It was fully a recording meant to get a donation only, and using mudslinging tactics to lure me in. If you can’t have a real person call me to talk about the actual state of affairs and how we are feeling, then you don’t deserve my dime or my vote.
