May be antiquated but I see communism as the far left and fascism as the far right. In both the government gains power at the expense of the individual and their rights. In general America’s republicans and democrats both fall close to the middle, historically speaking.

Sounds like you put individual liberty on the left and government power on the right in your spectrum. Both work, just semantics really.
