Equal, only if you equate that equality with identicallity. Men and women are not identical but they are certainly equal in that they can be equal in learning ability, in empathy, in caring about the wellbeing of others and in the ability to be creative whether in the fields of art or science. Please do not confuse equal with identical. They do not mean the same thing.
