Ok, now to my live reading of Schuchts's "Be Restored: Healing Our Sexual Wounds through Jesus' Merciful Love." A seminarian sent it to me. He'd been given the copy, felt that there was something off about it, and asked if he could send it to me and get some of my thoughts.
It's not good.
Schuchts claims to present a professionally-informed serious Catholic approach to "sexual brokenness" and "healing." He doesn't. He offers a take on the protestant healing prayer movement, vis a vis Leanne Payne. His citations are to conversion therapists or popular authors. If you dig into his footnotes, they're full of writers like Andrew Comiskey, Richard Fitzgibbons, Leanne Payne, John Eldredge, Alan Medinger, Jason Evert, etc.
It's a who's who of the Christian ex-gay movement, along with popularizers of toxic masculinity.
