Juvenal said, “Give them bread and circuses” and they will never revolt.

So, we can jump out of watching the circus, but we still HAVE to pay for other people to eat our bread. And since we can’t starve the beast collectively (We the People stop paying taxes), we stay tuned to the circus because we somehow think “it” will change.
