Ran into that all the time with pre-meddies in organic chemistry lab courses when I was doing research as an undergrad and later as a grad student. Lots of pre-meds were just as dishonest as they could be. Most of these guys got into med school and became docs. The ones we caught red-handed got reported to the prof and that was the end of them, some got Fs and one got kicked out.
