For a while I thought that England was going to be paradise. There's a certain inversion of history here, where Charlie is hoping to flee oppression in the US for England, but that wasn't the "to paradise" in the end. I think it's love, freedom, safety, and dignity. Things that all used to exist in America but no longer do by 2094.
By this definition, we could ask for whom America is "paradise" in real life. Which Americans have a reasonable expectation of love, freedom, safety, and dignity? How close are we to a world where we all do? A lot closer than any of these worlds, I think.
