Why do you think the author is choosing to repeat the names of characters in different centuries? There are definite parallels, but it makes it difficult for us to be precise when we try to discuss “David and Edward” or “David and Eden.”

I liked the way that 1993 Eden was more fleshed out than 1893 Eden. :-)
