There are no pure "capitalist" or "socialist" states. These are not absolute terms but instead broad general definitions describing different economic conditions. A socialist country can have many capitalist characteristics - small businesses, farmer selling produce and so on - and a capitalist country will have many socialist features, in the US Social Security is a good example. It is a question of balance and the primary question in my mind does your government put elites or people first. In the US corporations rule and people are increasing ignored and finding it much more difficult to fulfill basic economic needs but that does not matter to the neo- liberal and conservative agenda, they exist to serve the money elite and assist in the never ending upward transfer of assets to the very wealthy, more like feudalism than capitalism. People do not matter under this system, it is only power and control for corporate and elite purposes that matter.
