This assessment is the one I have too. No longer a Democrat, and never a Republican, I can say that the Dem Party is nowhere near it was in the 60's or 70's, and even that was when I was still oblivious to many of its shortcomings, such as its support for empire, war, and US exceptionalism. It's indefensible now since it stands for nothing in regard to the common good, using the accomplishments of FDR as if it still believes in those things. It doesn't and is in fact assisting Republicans in destroying those limited gains.
