Australia exports two kinds of coal, metallurgical coal and thermal coal. The former used for coking and application in steel making, the latter used for power plants.

Metallurgical coal is the bulk of OZ coal exports, but it is not without competition, a totally different ball game from iron ore.

OZ world market share in coal is less than 10%.
