A local area put in a law that said no homes can be built larger than 1800 sf. Including out buildings. The area is an island with a ton of wealthy people. Many of whom have 8,000 to 15,000 sf homes. Most with mortgages. All the banks immediately called the mortgages. Because the insurance companies reduced their fire insurance. I asked the local politician why he did that. He said ‘no one needs a house bigger than 1800 sf.’ I said what if the person has three kids and needs a shop to work out of? He snorted, ‘no one should be allowed to have three children’. I asked him ‘I’m guessing your house is 1800 sf?’ He seemed surprised I knew that. It was exactly 1800 sf. It was big enough for him, it should be big enough for anyone. And he had no kids. The world does not need children.
