Right, but the flip-side is that the initially observed "low" CFR was an artifact/illusion from the elderly not being in the infection pool at first (whereas Alpha had less of a front-loaded discount). Alpha and Delta were playing against two different teams; when the elderly came back on the field Delta started racking up HRs again, but we'll never really know how it would have scored without the vax / without suppressed treatments / without renewed use of ventilators in the US etc...
