It very much links with the video game ban (and probably with some of the tech company crackdowns) but... why? Is it all image-based, or a genuine effort to "improve" the population? A pure image-based intention seems unlikely considering that they also must know how headlines like "China Wants ‘Sissy Idols’ and ‘Effeminate Men’ Scrubbed From Entertainment Industry" are perceived by the general public in the West. If it is a genuine drive to change the character of the population, though, what are they hoping these measures will accomplish?
