Late reply... but has anyone considered that China DOES NOT have a master plan like we all assume they do? And that many of these conflicting strategies (pushing for the CAI to move the EU towards China, then sanctioning the EU aggressively, etc) comes not from some perfectly executed plan, but as a result of individual actions from various actors in the Chinese government performing to Xi JinPing to show that they are the most loyal and thus deserve promotion?
