I don't see the point of Xi and Biden meeting if there is nothing to negotiate, given that each side is inflexible on the critical issues (TW/HK/XJ, SCS, tech restrictions, etc.). Are they really going to meet just to agree to disagree, or worse, do something like what happened in Alaska with Blinken and Yang Jiechi?
As for Meng - what would the US / Canada get in return for damaging its own credibility in its legal systems by releasing Meng unconditionally? Will it be in exchange for the two Michaels? or something else? Seems like hostage trading in the former case, and wouldn't necessarily improve the relationship
