NY TIMES REPORTING on China is not particularly admirable -- or credible: the negative slanting is exaggerated.  And the smug assumption of superiority disrespectful.  Interesting to compare the quantity of coverage of the covid protests with the coverage of the Taiwan election results and Tsai Yingwen's resignation as DPP head, a matter of no negligible importance given the current "western" efforts to alienate TW from China.
