I think we must be realistic about Apple and not only Apply but any global corporation that has a substantial interest and investment in China. The best way to assess Apple is to look at the contrast between its actions in the U.S. and in China. In the U.S. Apple refuses to cooperate with law enforcement agencies. It refused to help the FBI in a 2015 case. The FBI needed information from an iPhone and Apple refused to cooperate to open the phone. Now fast forward to 2019 and young people demonstrating in Hong Kong. They used the Apple app Hong Kong Map-Live. After the China Daily raised a fuss about the app, Apple immediately deleted it from the app store. Apple and many other so called "global companies" are in fact hostages of Beijing.
