Clyde- From the start (think Great Fire Wall) the decoupling has been instigated from the Chinese side. The Made in China 2025 plan was and is clearly a plan for decoupling. The U.S. and the rest of the free world have been slow to pick up on this because it goes against all that they WiSH to believe and very much against the End of History notion and the idea that the future of the world is democratic capitalism and globalization. Globalists who warn of the steep costs of decoupling are averting their eyes from the fact that in the end they will have no choice. China will gut them and throw them overboard. Ultimately there can be no deep coupling of countries whose fundamental values are diametrically opposed.
