As a sometime Europe hand, I had a somewhat better impression. I think it is clear that in terms of defense, NATO is the only meaningful body and that the Europeans have concluded that the pretensions of Macron and before that of Angela Merkel were just that - pretensions. In the wake of the meetings the EU has opened the door to membership to Ukraine and Moldova. This is a jab in Putin's nose. The Lithuanians have close traffic to Kaliningrad. This may not prove to be a wise move, but it certainly is bold. The Germans are organizing to ration natural gas and all the major EU countries are sending more weapons to Ukraine. I don't think we can fault Biden on his dealings with Europeans so far.
