I'm sure they are aware of it. Hence the need to spend vast amounts of resources to propagandize, brainwash, and gaslight the public. Part of the oligarchy's strategy is to invent enemies (like Russia, China, Iran, immigrants, etc.) and moral panics (using fear) and then deflect all blame towards them (scapegoating). As long as the level of critical thinking of the public is low (or things get reallllyyyyy desperate), I'm unable to see much of a change or enough of a challenge to the status quo (unfortunately).
