What is going on?

Elon was center-left until like 5 minutes ago. And now, he's an apartheid apologist. Kanye West was more left than right; and now, he's trying to open the African American Chapter of the local Bund.

What makes someone so suddenly just up and become so far right, so hateful, and so bigoted?
