If Bush and R's had any fear of deficit financing, they would have instituted a patriotic tax increase to pay for their wars, like Congress had done in WW1, WW2, etc. But no, they were invested in Reagan's voodoo economics. As for Social Security, I've yet to see one R advocating what actually needs to be done - eliminating the cap on income and advocating a realistic tax on investments. But that would offend the rich investment class.
