And, perhaps, you missed the part where they engrafted the fetal scalps onto rodents. I mean...they're not beagles...but they are animals...and they are alive...or, at least, they were.

Allowing beagles to be eaten alive by sand flies and engrafting the scalps of aborted fetuses onto rodents are both evil.
