I quite agree that the CCP seems likely to be piloting programs in Xinjiang for the rest of China! However, regardless of whether or not that is true, it does not change the suffering being inflicted on the Uyghur people right now. If that suffering meets the UN standard of genocide-and I believe that it does-I think the US and other countries have a moral obligation to speak up, to say nothing of geopolitical considerations. As an avid student of the 1930s and 1940s, I am not keen to repeat the sins of my ancestors in entirely overlooking crimes of this nature (while acknowledging again that the CCP is not now engaging in mass executions, nor is it likely to).
