The Senate is certainly undemocratic in the sense that it's not representative of the actual population distribution, but it's still a directly-elected representative body, and it serves an important role in preserving the territorial integrity of the country by ensuring that less-populous states still feel that they enjoy a significant voice in government. I'm not sure characterizing it as a "blemish" is particularly fair, though arguments that it should be reformed are fair game.
