Your analogy is wildly off here and inappropriate. The nearer analogy in the U.S. would involve say a Native American tribe on a reservation over a century ago revolting against the state govt and wildly slaughtering innocent U.S. citizens who had more rights and freedoms within their state/region. But even then, the analogy is only slightly better and has little to do with the Israel/Palestine situation. But let's say it was a faction of this particular tribe who had gained authority over time that simply took matters into their own hands at the expense of the people they supposedly represent. They would have to do it in secret because they wouldn't have wide approval of such a suicidal action. We have no way of knowing how many Palestinians knew of this plan and supported this or not, but I think it's safe to say that citizens who could be in the know (who are not soldiers/militants) would in no way support what they could easily see could cause their own slaughter due to a predictable retaliation.
