"Language is thought; thought is language. Language is the mother, not the handmaiden, of thought.

Language shapes the way we think and determines what we can think about. Words will tell you things you never thought or felt before. But just as importantly if you don't understand the true meaning of words you will never think or feel things you've not felt before; you're past has been eliminated, and therefore your future is that defined by those who chose new definitions to limit your ability to THINK.

When the language is perfect the revolution will be complete."

Yes, all too true. What you cannot think you cannot say or conceptualise, and vice versa.

Here, when I was in school as well as when I was at uni, we were told - repeatedly - that anyone who taught social science of any kind was a sentinel against authoritarianism in any shape or form, because it was /our solemn duty/ to teach how to think without carrying water for any one kind of -ism or creed.

2015, I was repeatedly told by junior colleagues that to do that was being fascist and on "the enemy's side".

But... the woke and such, they ought to consider carefully the fate of Sykes in '1984'.
