Totally agree. If you're anywhere on the center-left, you pretty well have to make all the obligatory gestures of affirmation, conciliation, and compliance just to get even a few of them to listen for a moment without screaming for your head. I couldn't do it, so maybe it's good that some like Reeves do (or maybe it's just a complete waste of time--hard to say).
