I can't name a single completely free market in history, so that may be part of the problem in my thinking. Yes, it's true that we wouldn't have the East India Company of either flavor if we didn't have a Crown behind them. It's precisely so difficult for me to imagine the circumstance you're talking about because it seems dependent on the nonexistence of government, whether regulatory or "regulatory." Are you describing a circumstance that can actually exist?
